Fostering a strong and rewarding culture
Indiana University (IU) is a world-class educational institution with diverse and high-ranking academic programs. IU is also one of the largest and most visible employers in the state of Indiana, supporting over 20,000 faculty and staff members who change the lives of their students and graduates every day. With 9 campus locations, 200+ research centers and students from 170 countries, Indiana University’s faculty and staff positively impact communities across the state and families across the globe.
Indiana University partners with CuraLinc to offer faculty and staff confidential and personalized mental health care and resources. This partnership has led to lower rates of depression and anxiety, higher productivity and engagement, reduced absenteeism and lessened risk of hazardous alcohol use.
Making a difference through positive outcomes
CuraLinc analyzed the health and productivity of Indiana University faculty and staff who used the EAP in 2023, finding measurable improvement for a majority of those who sought help.
During the initial clinical assessment for new EAP users, CuraLinc’s Care Advocates, all of whom are licensed mental health counselors, use the following clinically validated tools to assess risk and identify an appropriate care plan:
SPS-6 and WOS identifies productivity concerns
GAD-2 and PHQ-9 measure anxiety and depression risk
AUDIT assesses alcohol misuse
To help participants build a strong therapeutic alliance with their counselor or mental health coach, they were matched to providers with confirmed availability that fit their individual clinical needs and personal preferences. This included factors such as modality (in-person or virtual), experience, gender and cultural background.
For those facing acute mental health concerns and substance use disorders, CuraLinc’s team navigated them to and through the appropriate level of care within and beyond the EAP, when necessary.
CuraLinc’s Care Advocates then check in with participants 30 days after they’ve completed treatment to measure their health and productivity and evaluate their satisfaction with the program. When appropriate, Care Advocates may offer referrals to additional resources. CuraLinc proudly earned a 94% satisfaction rate from Indiana University faculty and staff in 2023.
