Fostering a healthy, equitable and inclusive multinational workplace

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) is a global leader in technology, software and engineering, focused on making the world healthier, safer, smarter and more sustainable. Committed to building and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment, Emerson has been recognized by many publications for its success, including on Forbes 2023 list of America’s top large employers.

Fostering a healthy and innovative global workplace for more than 65,000 employees, Emerson provides professional development opportunities, offers comprehensive benefits packages and partners with CuraLinc to provide high-quality mental health care.

Since 2019, CuraLinc and Emerson have partnered to support employees and their family members through all of life’s challenges. With around-the-clock access to multiple modalities of care, participants have demonstrated lower rates of depression and anxiety, higher levels of productivity, reduced absenteeism and lesser risk of alcohol misuse after accessing care through CuraLinc’s employee assistance program.

Global access and positive outcomes

In 2023, CuraLinc analyzed the health and productivity of Emerson participants through a holistic intake and follow-up process. CuraLinc’s Care Advocates, all of whom are licensed mental health counselors, use the following clinically validated tools to assess participants’ concerns and risk level and create a personalized care plan:

·        SPS and WOS identify productivity concerns

·        GAD and PHQ measure anxiety and depression risk

·        AUDIT assesses alcohol misuse

Employees are then matched with a counselor or mental health coach with confirmed availability that fits their individual clinical needs and personal preferences. This included factors such as modality (in-person or virtual), experience, gender and cultural background.

After completing treatment, CuraLinc’s Care Advocates check in with participants to measure their health and productivity, evaluate their satisfaction with the program and offer referrals to additional resources when needed. CuraLinc proudly earned a 96% satisfaction rate from Emerson employees in 2023.

“We are very impressed with CuraLinc’s technology features. While many employees still contact the EAP by phone, more prefer methods such as email, text or chat as a less intimidating entryway into the program. The digital programs are robust and engaging, making mental health care more approachable and accessible to a wider portion of our population."

Tune into this previous episode of Coffee with CuraLinc to hear Emerson’s Director of Wellbeing, Andi Blaylock share how the company promotes employee health on a global level.

“CuraLinc’s reporting includes a workplace stress index based on location and we noticed that one country had a significantly higher workplace stress index than others. We reached out to that team, came up with interventions, chose targeted training sessions and implemented a full 12-month calendar of activities to help address that stress. I’ve worked in the EAP business for 20 years and I had not seen a piece of data like that. It helps us really pinpoint where we can support our people.”
